Pride Hilo Officers

Dr. Misaki Takabayashi, UHH Faculty Advisor

As one of few openly gay faculty members at UH Hilo, Dr. Takabayashi advises Pride Hilo and is heavily involved in all current activities. She was raised in Japan and Australia and worked professionally in Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, and continental USA before taking an assistant professor position in Marine Science Department at UHH in January of 2005. When she is not working with corals, she enjoys cooking.

If Dr. Takabayashi could be any animal, she would be a coral because she would just have to sit in warm ocean and look pretty while her symbiots photosythesize and give her energy.

Eddie Johns, President
My name is Eddie Johns and I am currently working of my Masters Degree in Couseling Psychology at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo.  I am currently doing my thesis on Drag Families of Hawai'i to explore how our transgender populations are able to stay healthy in Hawai'i reguardless of the social, economic, and systematic stigmatization.  If you are interested in find out more about my research, please feel free to contact me at ejohns@hawaii.edu  This year I am doing my internship at the UH Hilo Counseling Center.  If you are UH Hilo student are are interested in talking to a counselor please feel free to set up an appointment with the Counseling Center at 808-974-7399.  I look foward to this new school year!  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Ann Uland, President

Ann is a hard working multi-major student with a love for Mathematics and Biology. Her goals in life include going to grad school in Oceanography to study plankton. She spent a year being treasurer of pride and now is the co-president along with Eddie.

Johanna(JoDee) Murch, Vice-President

JoDee is a Marine Science major who transfered to Hawaii from her coastal 'village' town in California Fall 2009. She wants to focus her college studies on Nudibranchs and their unique eating abilities. She enjoys being a Jack of all trades and dabbles in many things from art, music and cooking to karate, bellydancing and sparring.

If JoDee could be an animal, she would be a Platypus. Because they are weird and confusing and no one can define them. Plus despite the fact they look a little pudgy, they hold their own unique beauty.

Micah "Eiji" Inoue, Treasurer
Micah is an undergraduate student at UH Hilo studying Psychology and Political Science. He hopes to put a recognizable face to the LGBTIQ community and help defeat stereotypes on and off campus through words, actions, information and his life. His hobbies are sports (running 1/2 and full marathons, volleyball tackle football, greco wrestling, American soccer, weight lifting, swimming), cooking backpacking, poetry, importing and modifying cars, learning to drift, driving stick shift FAST, fashion designing/sewing, being an advocate and learning.

If Micah could be any animal, he would be a lion in sheep's clothes. People will think he's defenseless and broken down but when they get too close and aim to attack, the surprise will be on them.

Mickael, Secretary

Mickael is an eager freshman, working hard to help make Pride a better organization.
